M270-21 River Tamar, Beauty Point and Bell Bay – Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Deployment
An untethered autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) will be deployed between Beauty Point and Bell Bay from Monday, 11 October 2021 to Friday, 22 October 2021 between 0900 – 1700 hours. The vehicle will be operating from the surface and also submerged.
Standby vessels “Chromis” and “TV Skipjack” will be onsite during planned surfacings and will display flag ALPHA and make contact over VHF CH16 to any approaching surface vessels. It is possible the AUV will conduct unplanned surfacing, and as such any vessels coming into the current approximate location of the AUV will be contacted via VHF CH16 and requested to change course if there is risk of collision.
Mariners should navigate with caution in the area.
