Great news! Craigbourne Dam will reopen for recreational access from Tuesday, 30 June, following the lifting of the blue-green algae closure.

Tasmanian Irrigation has let us know that recent testing shows the algae is non-toxic, with no harmful toxins detected, and levels are continuing to drop as the weather cools. Visible scum has mostly cleared, and in consultation with Inland Fisheries Service and Marine and Safety Tasmania, it’s now safe to reopen.

Please remember:

  • Avoid direct contact with the water where possible.
  • Stay clear of any discoloured or scummy areas.
  • Keep pets away from visible algae.

Conditions can change, especially in warmer weather, so please remain cautious and report any concerns to Tasmanian Irrigation.

Thank you for your patience during the closure — we look forward to welcoming you back!
