M283-26 River Derwent – Hydrographic Survey Operations
Mariners are advised that above-water and underwater hydrographic survey operations will be conducted within the River Derwent deep-water channel between:
- Sullivan’s Cove – 42°52.96′ S, 147°20.58′ E
- Cape Direction / Cape De La Sortie – 43°03.63′ S, 147°23.42′ E
The survey program will involve both surface survey vessels and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and will commence on Tuesday, 11 August 2026 and continue until Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
AUVs may be required to surface with limited notice. Escort workboats will be positioned in the vicinity of underwater survey operations and will advise nearby vessels of any requirement to keep clear of the survey area.
Surface hydrographic survey operations will also be undertaken. Survey vessels will remain manoeuvrable and will take appropriate action to comply with the Collision Regulations and keep clear of other vessels as required.
Survey vessels and support craft will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channels 16 and 69 at all times.
Mariners are requested to maintain a proper lookout, navigate with caution when transiting the area, and keep well clear of survey vessels and associated equipment where practicable.
