Tasmanian operational areas

The safety equipment you are required to carry depends on both the length of your vessel and the waters in which you operate. Different equipment requirements apply to different operating areas to ensure you are prepared for the conditions you may encounter.

Tasmania’s Operational Area map divides waterways into three categories:

Smooth waters
Sheltered waters
Coastal waters.
