M015-26 – Port of Hobart, Storm Bay, Frederick Henry Bay – INCAT sea trials
Mariners are advised that the INCAT vessel China Zorrilla will be conducting sea trials in the River Derwent, Storm Bay and Frederick Henry Bay from 16 January 2026 to 26 February 2026.The trials will be commencing from Prince of Wales Bay in the Port of Hobart and occurring within the area included in the attached chartlet. The exact location used on individual days will vary depending on a number of factors, including the weather conditions at the time.
Mariners are requested to keep at least 300 metres clear of the vessel at all times while it is undertaking sea trials. This is especially important for operators of small vessels and PWC who need to be aware that due to the high-speed nature of the China Zorrilla operations, interactions with the vessel can very quickly develop into dangerous situations with the vessel speeds in excess of 25kts and may deviate suddenly from her course and adjust her speed.
Mariners and PWC users are advised that under no circumstances should any vessel, including rowing shells and PWC, transit between the hulls of the vessel. The vessel’s jet propulsion may start at any time, transferring high volumes of water, causing unexpected currents and aeration of the water in the vicinity of the vessel even when the vessel is alongside.
Mariners are reminded that during sea trials, the vessel will cause some wash reflective of the vessels size and speed.
