M264-26 Port of Hobart – Semi-Submersible Ship Loading – Prohibited Area
Mariners are advised that from Tuesday 28 July 2026 to approximately Thursday 30 July 2026, the semi-submersible heavy lift ship MV Black Marlin is scheduled to anchor within the port limits of the Port of Hobart, in approximate position Latitude 420 54.85’ S, Longitude 1470 23.55’ E. The MV Black Marlin will then prepare for, load and secure the Incat-built vessel, China Zorrilla, before departing for sea. The exact timing of operations will be weather dependent.
During the entire time that the MV Black Marlin is anchored in this position, a prohibited area will be in force for all waters within 500 metres of the MV Black Marlin. All vessels are prohibited from navigating within the prohibited area during this time, unless authorised to navigate in the area by Hobart VTS. All aerial drones are prohibited from operating within 120m from sea level within the prohibited area during the loading operations, so as not to interfere with navigation, unless authorised to operate in the area by Hobart VTS. A sentry vessel will be on site to ensure compliance with the prohibited area.
Regulation 71 of the Marine and Safety (Pilotage and Navigation) Regulations 2017 provides for the declaration of a specified area, including one surrounding a vessel at anchor, to be a prohibited area for other vessels or persons.
