M314-24(T) River Derwent, Blackmans Bay to Halfmoon Bay – Pipeline Installation

Mariners are advised that operations involving the installation of a submarine irrigation pipeline between Blackmans Bay and Halfmoon Bay are ongoing.

The vessel WANDANA is continuing to tow 500m-long pipe strings from Margate Marina to the site, leaving at 0330 hours and maintaining a listening watch on Ch12/16. A punt will be positioned at the far end of the pipe string and will display an all-round white light.

The pipe installation is occurring from West to East and a vessel is remaining on-site overnight at the end of the pipe string during the installation.

The submarine irrigation pipeline is being installed between the following points:

The Marine and Safety (Pilotage and Navigation) Regulations 2017 determine that the master of a vessel must not anchor, or dredge an anchor or any other equipment from the vessel, within 90 metres of submarine pipeline. These requirements apply to the newly installed sections of the submarine irrigation pipeline.

The installation is expected to be completed by 20 September 2024.

Mariners should maintain a 500m distance from the working vessels and ensure they do not anchor or dredge any equipment in the vicinity of the newly installed pipeline.
