M381-25(T) Huon River, Shipwrights Point– Pipeline Installation and Marking
Mariners are advised that subsea pipe installation will be taking place from Monday, 15 December 2025, to Friday, 19 December 2025, at Shipwrights Point, Port Huon.
Approximately 300 metres of floating pipe is being stored inside the Huon Aquaculture lease at Whale Point. Initially, the pipe will be pulled out into Hospital Bay to be turned around, then towed across to Shipwrights Point and installed into position. The work will be completed by a number of work vessels, including the vessel Bushbasher, which will be maintaining a listening watch on VHF Channel 16 and 12. During construction, pink and yellow buoys will be used to mark the pipeline while it is being installed. This pipeline installation will involve the use of divers.
The installed pipeline is intended to run from an approximate position at Latitude 43° 9.690’S, Longitude 146° 58.890’E to an approximate position on the shore at Latitude 43° 9.590’S, Longitude 146° 58.730’E.
The Marine and Safety (Pilotage and Navigation) Regulations 2017 determine that the master of a vessel must not anchor or dredge an anchor or any other equipment from the vessel within 90 metres of a submarine pipeline. These requirements apply to the newly installed sections of the submarine pipeline.
Mariners should maintain a safe distance from working vessels and avoid anchoring or dredging in the vicinity, and keep wash to a minimum when navigating the area.
