M405-24(T) Bass Strait – North Coast Tasmania – Monitoring Buoys AMENDMENT
Mariners are advised that commencing Friday, 8 August until 22 August 2025, the monitoring buoys will undergo adjustment of their mooring systems in preparation for removal for maintenance.
During this time, an additional unlit 600mm yellow mooring buoy will be positioned approximately 40 metres from monitoring buoys at positions 1, 4 and 5.
All buoys and moorings are expected to be withdrawn by Friday, 22 August 2025. Once all buoys and moorings are removed, this notice will be cancelled.
Mariners should navigate with caution in the vicinity of the monitoring buoys and maintain a good lookout.

Mariners are advised that five water quality monitoring buoys have been installed in the following positions:

- 41o 3.951’S 146o 20.340’E
- 41o 6.543’S 146o 26.286’E
- 41o 9.686’S 146o 23.658’E
- 41o 9.831’S 146o 22.639’E
The buoys are yellow in colour and up to 1.75m in diameter, with a flashing yellow light visible for 3 nautical miles.
The buoys were installed on 17 December 2024 and will remain in place until 20 December 2025.
Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and are not permitted to moor to the buoys.
