Mariners, persons in charge of small craft and others concerned are hereby advised that a 7 knot speed limit will apply to all waters in Risby Cove, eastwards of a line drawn from Regatta Point Hotel to Huon Aquaculture processing shed, situated west of the Strahan Slipway. The speed limit will be enforced in accordance with Regulation 66 of the Marine and Safety (Pilotage and Navigation) Regulations 2007.
The following on-water craft are exempted from the 7 knots speed limit:-
a) Tasmania Police vessels are exempted if they are acting in the lawful execution of their duties
b) The jet boat operators are exempted
c) Seaplanes are exempted if water conditions outside Risby Cove make it difficult to land or take off with safety.
Seaplanes requiring to land or take off within the Cove must use the designated 100 metre-wide zoned corridor along the Southern shore line. The pilot will strictly observe the rules of navigation and the practice of good seamanship and avoid passing in close proximity to other vessels.
The designated Communication Procedures for Risby Cove must be observed by all vessels and seaplanes prior to berthing and arrival or departure from Risby Cove. This Notice replaces Notice to Mariners M14 of 1998.
