M418-24 Lake St Clair – Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Deployment
An untethered autonomous underwater vehicle (UAV) will be deployed in the Lake St Clair Autonomous Operations Area between 0800 and 1700 on Wednesday, 4 December 2024.
The AUV will conduct manoeuvres below the water surface within the deployment area as part of a training exercise. The vehicle will operate from the surface and be submerged.
The standby vessel ‘Tapilti’ will be onsite during the planned surfacings, display flag ALPHA, and contact any approaching surface vessels over VHF CH14/CH16. It is possible the AUV will conduct unplanned surfacings, and as such, any vessels coming into the current approximate location of the AUV will be contacted via VHF CH14/CH16 and requested to change course if there is a risk of collision.
Mariners should navigate with caution in the area.
